The WestUnionFest Dolly Dress Contest brought out the artist in everyone. There were some great entries.

Winner of the Town of West Union’s First Place prize of $100.00 Savings Bond was Kimberly Lawrence with her “Westward Ho!” exhibit including not just one doll, but TWO!

Honorable Mention goes to: Madelyn Willis and Vickie Leggett

Thank you all – it was a fun contest and for a good cause. These dolls are now part of a traveling exhibit for Swiger Run History Museum.

West Union, WV - CONTEST!!!!!!   DOLLY DRESS CONTEST FOR TOWN OF WEST UNION - 125

As part of the 125th Anniversary of the Town of West Union, the Town is sponsoring a very special contest!

Dress a doll in a WV
Victorian Costume Contest -

Costumes should reflect the styles of the turn of the Century (around 1900)

We are all familiar with this lady   

Annie Oakley 1860 - 1925- but remember - this was also the time of Annie Oakley, the Great Train Robbery,  from the Great Train Robbery.  Doc Holliday Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp Wyatt Earp (don't forget the mustaches  <G>) 

West Union had farmers and oil barons, bankers, shopkeepers, and teachers...



Dolls are available at the Town Hall, 300 Court Street, West Union, WV 26456. Dolls are provided by Swiger Run History Center.

The Mayor and Town Council have authorized a $100.00 Savings Bond for First Prize.   Social Security Number must be provided for the awarding of the prize.

Enter as many times as you like. All entries must be received in the Town of West Union office by 4:00 PM on July 17, 2006.

All entered costumes become the property of the Town of West Union, but will be fully credited to the artist. They may be used as part of a traveling exhibit in promotions for the Swiger Run History Center or the Town of West Union.

Drop your completed Doll and costume off at The Town Hall at 300 Court Street.  DCHS Volunteers prepare dolls for contest
