West Union, WV
- Contest Winners!!
The Town of West Union now has winners in the "What the Town of
West Union Means to Me" Essay Contest and in the Contest for the
Seal for the Town of West Union.
So many original essays and seal designs were received that the judges were
faced with very difficult choices. It was finally determined that the entries
would be divided into two categories and an additional prize would be given.
The Mayor and Town Council had authorized a $100.00 Savings Bond for First Prize
in the Essay Contest as well as a $100.00 Savings Bond for First Prize in the
Seal Contest.
In the Essay Contest:
First Prize in category one is awarded to:
Frances Smearman Vaca, of Long Beach, California
Honorable mention for this category is awarded to:
Harold Wright of Waxhaw, NC
and Patricia Denner of Shreveport, Louisiana.
First Prize in category two is awarded to:
Brooke Ash, a member of Mrs. Rymer's Creative Writing Class at
Doddridge County High School
Honorable mention is awarded to:
Brianna Swisher, a member of Mrs. Rymer's Creative Writing Class
at Doddridge County High School
and Mikka Lowe, a member of Mrs. Rymer's Creative Writing Class at
Doddridge County High School
In the Seal Contest:
First Prize is awarded to:
John Droppleman
Honorable mention is awarded to:
Angela Trammell
The Town of West Union wishes to thank everyone who participated in these
contests. The response to these contests as well as the excellent quality of the
entries was overwhelming.
The Town of West Union is indebted to those who served on the panel of judges:
