The Middle Island Creek People are an intertribal group of people with Native American blood who wish to learn and follow the ways of their ancestors.  The Tribe is open to people of all nations who are of good heart.   The basis of the tribe is spiritual and they approach all things in a spiritual manner asking that Creator lead them in the right direction.

The Tribal Council is made up of a chief, Second Chief, two Clan Members, a Beloved Woman, who is the spiritual leader of the Tribe, and a Secretary/Treasurer.  This is the Governing Body.

Middle Island Creek People have donated much time to presentations at our schools and other appearances in keeping  with their principles of learning and teaching the ancient ways (including a recent appearance at the Morgantown University Art Center for the culture show, appearances at nursing homes, and the FBI Culture show), but this is their first appearance as part of a community event such as our Festival.  We welcome them!

They will be appearing in Regalia for our Festival, WestUnionFest, on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Tribal dancing and music on Main Street is scheduled for 11 A.M. and also at 5:00 P.M. Tribal crafts and jewelry will be available all day.

The Middle Island Creek People will also be in our Parade the evening before WestUnionFest, Friday, July 24, 2009. If you have never heard "Amazing Grace" sung in the powerful Cherokee language before, do not miss this!
